With an idea and concretely. Modern, but combined with a transparent form. Originally, but with simplicity. Surprisingly, but not embarrassingly. How to do a resume?

Each venture begins with the first step. It is the same with changing or looking for the first job, before which it is necessary to prepare application documents.

  1. Check job offers – Preparation of a good CV should be started by checking job offers from our specialization or ads of interest to us. Particular attention should be paid to the requirements set by employers – which of them we meet, what competences can be our advantage, what is worth working on to develop in a given field.
  2. Prepare … yourself – The curriculum vitae is a description of professional life so far and more. In memory you have to find both the history of professional experience and education, but also completed courses, acquired qualifications, and our distinguishing competences. At this stage of preparation, we also check whether we have a professional email address. Well prepared contains the name and surname (in full version, short version or as initials) and a serious domain
  3. Give it the right form – A good CV shows the candidate from the best side – as a professional and expert in his field. The emphasis of the described competences is the graphic design of the document. CV should not be distinguished by force, e.g. graphically – it should be above all legible and transparent. Instead, use a good CV template and, depending on your needs, adapt it to the job offer we are interested in.
  4. Start writing! – Recruiters very often receive many CVs in response to a job offer. For an application to pass the first stage of recruitment, it must be complete and contain information sought by the recruiter.
  5. Adjust your CV – The CV prepared in this way should always be tailored to the specific job offer emphasizing experience, skills, training, as well as the professional goal, which will particularly interest the recruiter and the potential employer. Remember that your CV should be concise, so shorten those elements that may not be significant from the point of view of a given recruitment. At the same time, don’t try to fit everything on one page – if you have more experience, no one will be surprised if your CV has 2 or 3 pages.

Work experience is an element that primarily interests your future employer. There are of course exceptions to this rule. These include applications:

  • for an internship
  • and internships
  • when your work experience doesn’t matter that much. It is difficult to require professional experience from a person who wants to get it

Do you have a “rich” professional past? Don’t write it all out! Place only two or three of your last positions in your CV.

Such “organized” professional experience in the CV will be effective. You will not fill the recruiter with a pile of unnecessary information. If you’ve recently worked in three different corporations, you don’t have to write that you distributed leaflets 10 years ago. Excess information in this section is simply not recommended. It can be overwhelming for a recruiter. This recruiter doesn’t like it!

Also keep the correct presentation scheme for this information:

  • start with the period (month, year) in which you worked in a given place,
  • then enter the name of the company, organization, foundation
  • name the position you held there
  • you can additionally briefly describe the scope of your duties in this job.
