October 23 - October 31
This immensely popular children's story is told from the point of view of a dog named Harold. It starts when Harold's human family, the Monroes, goes to see the movie "Dracula," and young Toby accidentally sits on a baby rabbit wrapped in a bundle on his seat. How could the family help but take the rabbit home and name it Bunnicula?
Is Bunnicula really a vampire bunny? We can't say. But any child who has ever let his or her imagination run a little wild will love Deborah and James Howe's funny, fast-paced "rabbit-tale of a mystery." |

Carla's Song - The Story of the Homeless Christmas Tree
"The Homeless Christmas Tree" sounds like a children's tale and, in fact, the book which inspired this play is a children's story. But this play is about the woman behind the children's story and she did not live a fairy-tale life. Carla lived and worked for a time at the Presbyterian Night Shelter, and it was during that time that she began to decorate the "homeless Christmas tree." There are some men, women and children there who are good people just "going through a bad patch," as Carla says in the show, and many overcome their temporary circumstances and leave the shelter for more normal lives. "The Homeless Christmas Tree" is a story about hope, Christmas, and an extraordinary city full of caring people. It embodies the incomitable spirit of Texas. Without a doubt, this is the "must see" for any holiday season. Watch for the special book signing by the play's author. Written by Fort worth resident, Leslie Gordon, and rewritten as a play by Kit Hussey. |

There's A Boy in the Girl's Bathroom
"Give me a dollar or I'll spit on you." That's Bradley Chalkers for you. He's the oldest in his class. He tells enormous lies; picks fights with girls and teachers say he has "serious behavior problems." No one likes him - except Carla, the new school counselor. She thinks Bradley is sensitive and generous, and she even enjoys his far-fetched stories. Carla knows that Bradley could change, if only he weren't afraid to try. A story of isolation, bravery and gradual acceptance told with great humor by Lous Sachar, the author of "Holes." |
